When was ConfigHub founded and how is it funded?

The company was founded in July 2024 as ConfigHub Inc. We are funded with $4M from institutional investors, Crane, Pear and Encoded, and angel investors. Please see our press release for more.

Who are the founders of ConfigHub?

The founders are Alexis Richardson, Brian Grant and Jesper Joergensen. We met via our work on cloud platforms over the last 10-15 years.

When can I try the product?

Is ConfigHub open source?

The core of ConfigHub is a closed source SaaS product with support for cloud and on premise users. However, a large amount of the actual functionality is implemented as open source, MIT licensed functions and bridges that are connected to the core but run outside it. You can use our open source, MIT licensed SDK to write your own functions, bridges and API clients.

Tell me the story of the ConfigHub name?

The name ConfigHub is inspired by the desire to provide a central place for developers, operators and application owners to share, control and gain insights from config data. Think GitHub, Docker Hub. The name “ConfigHub” has been in use before. Back in 2014, Edin Arslanagic founded an open source project and company - ConfigHub LLC. That ran until 2018 when Edin shut down ConfigHub LLC. We got in touch last year when we founded ConfigHub and Edin was kind enough to sell us the domain name confighub.com. We are all friends and wanted to make sure that Edin’s history and past work with the name were recognised. His codebase is still online as an open source project, but is a totally separate code base and has no connection to ConfigHub Inc.

Frontend is changing fast with AI tools. We are also tackling non-trivial SaaS, data storage and distributed systems issues. Above all you’ll have a passion for the problem space and a deep commitment to improving the customer experience through product.
